Actor Johnny Depp is suing some of his past attorneys and financial managers for over twenty-five million dollars for manipulating him for their own financial benefit.
Depp’s complaint refers to how a “hard money” loan is depleting his part of the profits from several films he’s been in and giving precedence to Depp’s manager and attorney for obtaining money from his loans without his knowledge. Hard money is the term for loans that carry a high-interest rate. It is used by people having a financial crunch and is intended to be a very short term.
The managers, in turn, denied the allegations and countersued, saying they spend an extravagant amount of money—$2 million per month—to fund Depp’s lifestyle.
The malpractice lawsuit is also looking into fraud, mismanagement, and money laundering.
